Online tutoring is the process of tutoring in a live, online classroom in which students and tutors interact through audio, video, and a shared whiteboard. Online tutoring eliminates geographic boundaries and allows us to reach many students we were previously unable to reach.
Through online tutoring, students are matched one-on-one with trained tutors from all over the state, country, and world. Tutors work with students every week to close academic gaps and teach digital literacy skills.
Online Tutoring can happen at any shelter or school where there is a need. We can also lend devices to individual students so they can participate in online tutoring at motels or community centers.
The School on Wheels Online Tutoring program started in 2014 and has grown every year. In 2018, over 100 online volunteers tutored over 400 students. Interested in becoming an online tutor? Go here to get started. For more information contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
