Digital Learning Platforms
School on Wheels provides access to digital learning platforms that engage students, fill academic gaps, and teach critical technology skills. Tutors, parents, and shelter staff can click here to register their student for our main digital learning platforms – Freckle, Code.org, and Typing Club. Scroll down to learn more about each platform.
Note: The registration form is only for students enrolled in School on Wheels.
After filling out the registration form, you will receive your student’s log-in information within 5-10 business days.
Freckle is our top recommendation for online learning (ELA & Math) because it adapts to reach students at their own level, so they are never working on anything too easy or too difficult. It is great for students to use between tutoring sessions. Click here for a video demo. (Levels: K-12)
After requesting an account for your student, you will be provided with login information over email. Give your student’s login information to your student and their family. Encourage your student to use Freckle outside of your regular tutoring sessions. For families using Freckle at home with their students, please watch this instructional video to get started.
If you want to use Freckle during remote tutoring, direct your student to student.freckle.com, and instruct them to enter their log-in information. Then, have your student share their screen with you so you can see what they’re seeing. Note that you must use a video chat tutoring option, such as Big Blue Button or Zoom, to have your student share their screen.
How students log in:
- Login in at: https://student.freckle.com/
- Enter class code
- Student first and last name
Once in the program, students will need to complete a pretest in either math or ELA to get started. This option is always available on the lower left of the student’s screen. TIP: Explore all the tools to the left and right of the screen! Freckle has designed a program with a variety of tools to help your student work through the problem.
