BUS Program 9-12

Our Believe-Understand-Succeed (BUS) Program combines personalized academic and life skills instruction with post-high school opportunities for our students experiencing homelessness in grades 9-12.

The goals of the program are three-fold:

  1. Help our high school students graduate with a high school diploma.
  2. Provide our students with exposure to the most critical 21st Century skills.
  3. Connect our students with organizations that provide post-high school opportunities.

Pre-program reflections are used to personalize the student’s curriculum. The structure of each one-hour session includes 30 minutes of academic support (homework help, digital learning through our platforms in Freckle.com, CK12.org, etc.), and 30 minutes of life skills learning.

Our life skills curricula covers:

How to
Get a Job

How to Get Into College

How to Get Into Trade School

How to Manage Money

How to Graduate High School

Post-Program Reflections measure changes in student confidence, obtain student feedback and allow them to choose their next life skills topic.

We connect students with our partners, which include:

CareerGenius for career coaching and resume writing

Jump$tart Coalition
for financial advice
and consultation

Los Angeles Job Corps for job training and development

PrepHQ for test prep services and financial aid application support

YouVisit for virtual and interactive college campus tours and exploration
