Literacy Program Favorites

  • Abcya– Offers educational games for grades Pre-K through 6.
  • Education.com– Offers free downloadable worksheets and activities for grades Pre-K through 8. 
  • Padlet TA– Free website for generating and creating worksheets, lesson plans, and activities for students of all grades.
  • School on Wheels Literacy Community Writing Padlet– Check out our fun writing Padlet community for all students K-12 to explore creative writing! This is also a great supplement to tutoring sessions.

Academic /BUS Program Favorites

  • Khan Academy – Educational videos and practice tests on all subjects, adaptive to your students’ grade level.
  • IXL– Practice problems in all subjects K-12. The free version allows 10 practice questions per day.
  • The San Bernardino County Library offers free digital library cards for School on Wheels students. Find teaching books, Peterson’s Test Prep, and Cosmic Plus.
  • Freckle–Adaptive math, reading, vocabulary, and grammar practice with fun avatars and motivational rewards. School on Wheels can provide a premium account for your student at no cost.

Art

  • Google Applied Digital Skills -Video lessons on middle and high school skills such as writing resumes, research, presentations, etc.
  • Social Media Test Drive–Practice digital citizenship skills through a social media simulation. Best for grades 4 and up.
  • Google Earth, Carmen San Diego–Use Google Earth to solve mysteries and learn geography.
  • Typing Club-Free online touch typing courses that include 650 typing games, typing tests, and videos.
  • Microsoft MakeCode – Use block-based coding and more advanced programming languages to create games and program computer simulators.
  • Scratch -Project-based learning for coding. Students can create animations and games while learning coding skills.
  • Commonsense.org/Digital literacy – interactive lessons, games, and videos on internet safety, privacy, responsible tech use, and media literacy. 
  • Be Internet Awesome -Gamified lessons teaching kids about online safety, security, and smart digital habits. 
  • Code.org -Teaches foundational coding, problem-solving, and computational thinking through fun, interactive activities and games. Even younger students can learn the basics of how technology works.

Social Studies | History
