Volunteer Appreciation Brunch

School on Wheels’ staff and board members welcomed over 200 volunteers to their Volunteer Appreciation Brunch at the Santa Monica Bay Woman’s Center. This year marks the first time that the annual event has occurred in-person since before lockdown.

Awards were given to our Tutors of the Year, President’s Volunteer Service Award winners, Gold President’s Volunteer Service Award winners, and Agnes Stevens Founders Award recipients. Guests enjoyed live entertainment from a magician, violinist, and even a surprise bag piper.

School on Wheels is proud to recognize our volunteers with President’s Volunteer Service Awards, which are given by the President’s Council on Service and Civic Participation and AmeriCorps. These presential awards are only one of the ways that we aim to support and appreciate our volunteers. Throughout the year, volunteers are invited to free concerts, free basketball games with the LA Clippers, social mixers, and more. Additionally, some volunteers are eligible to receive school credit for their participation.
